Yellow Wood Sorrel — Positive ID

A sour, lemony-tasting edible easily mistaken for true clover — the two need different cautions, not the same one.

Lookalikes to Know

  • True Clover (Trifolium spp.): Commonly confused with true clover, but a distinct plant with a distinct caution profile — oxalis carries an oxalate/kidney-stone watch, clover carries a vitamin K/blood-thinner watch. Oxalis leaflets are triangular and heart-shaped and fold down in low light; clover's are round-oval and don't fold.
