The Bogle
A fence built entirely from yard waste — stakes and woven brush, no purchased material beyond the stakes — that doubles as wildlife habitat and a slow-release compost windrow.
Why the name
Named for the Bogle of British and Scottish folklore — a mischievous spirit traditionally said to dwell in hedgerows, gaps, and boundary lines. A fitting namesake for a fence made of exactly that.
Set vertical stakes or posts in two parallel rows to form a channel, spaced to match available brush length. Lay heavy wood (logs, thick branches) first at the base for stability, then weave and pack lighter brush, branches, and yard waste tightly between and above the base logs, continuing to build up and weave material between the stakes to lock it in place.
Build Steps
