Plant Profile
Corn Silk — Traditional Use & Preparation
Two source cards for the same plant, one thinner than the other — combined here with the diuretic-interaction caution neither one carried.
Cautions to Know
- Diuretic medications and kidney conditions: Corn silk's mild diuretic effect is real. Combined with a prescription diuretic, it can cause excessive fluid loss and electrolyte depletion (hypokalemia) — muscle cramps, weakness, and in serious cases heart rhythm problems. Use caution or avoid with diuretic medications, kidney disorders, or heart conditions. Not disclosed on either source card.
