Contraindications — Read Before Using

• Not for children under 2 — do not ignore: Commercial camphor/menthol chest rubs (e.g. Vicks VapoRub) carry an explicit manufacturer warning against use in children under 2 years old — camphor is documented to cause seizures in young children even at fairly small topical or ingested doses. The source recipe for this rub included no such warning at all.
• Never apply near the nose or mouth — do not ignore: Menthol/peppermint-based rubs applied too close to an infant's nose have caused laryngospasm (an airway-closing reflex) in documented cases — commercial products specifically warn against applying near the nose for exactly this reason. Do not use this recipe on a young child without independently verifying a pediatric-safe formulation first, and never apply near the nose or mouth regardless of age.
